Oh boy! I’m really excited for this episode! I love when you guys do John Carpenter movies. This is one I came to VERY late. I think I saw a clip of the little girl getting shot on Youtube, then I tried to see if I could rent it only to find a Barnes and Noble near me had the Shout Factory Blu-Ray for cheap. I picked up it and watched it blind and I loved it! The ending is amazing.

Also, I had no idea you could put a silencer on a C96 Mauser.

Keep up the good work guys, been listening for years. Just watched the Assault on Precinct 13 for the first time the other week after being a life long Carpenter fan. I thought it was great and for a cheap B-movie carpenter once again brings some class to the table. The kid getting shot part, there was zero humour or sensationalism in that whole section. It played straight as can be. Even the killer got zero joy from it, blank face.

It’s even more jarring today because it has been outlawed or shunned pretty much.

Personally ive never seen a kid get shot point blank in a movie like that apart from zombie kids in Dawn of the Dead, but as shocking as it was, the scene was dealt with in a way only a master of film making could handle, only Carpenter.

Dude looks like Lo Pan now, 71, smoker, looked like anytime in the last 20 years he could drop down dead. It’s time to give John Carpenter some serious recognition for his work.

One of the most influential directors. Creates Gold from nothing, low budget B-Movies with style and substance that still hold up because of his on point film making.

Sound and vision Carpenter is one of the best of all time.

Top 10 if not top 5 depending on your preferences.

Its like if Spielberg only got to make Duel budget genre films, stayed on that path and produced iconic sound tracks which people still try and emulate today

Thanks for listening! And yes…Carpenter is one of the greats. I’m so glad he is now getting the recognition he has long deserved.

No problemo. I’m from Newcastle, U.K. So add England to your list of listeners. Very enjoyable show. Love you guys enthusiasms. Enthusiasms, enthusiasms. Very well researched and in depth reviews. I love all the production talk and other nuggets of information surrounding the film like casting, script reworks and soundtracks. Some shows just run through the story beats, I saw the goddam movie so I know the story.

I love all that backstage stuff you guys talk about. You can tell you read up before a review and have a great general knowledge about movies.

Thank you so much Ian! So awesome to have English listeners, and a Geordie at that! So cool- thank you. We do do alot of homework prior to every episode, and aside from being positive and not sarcastic or negative about the films, we also try for unique angles to approach these movies, cause it seems film podcasting is a pretty big and plentiful genre- so trying to stand above the rest is what we strive for. And being film nerds and film school grads, its all in our purview and interest. So thank you for choosing us. And next time I’m up North, I’ll drop you a line to meet up for a pint. “Sunny day, stands are full of fans, what does he have to say? I get nowhere unless the team wins…” lol -Dion

It’s took just over a year but I’m finally up to date on your podcasts which is amazing.

I can’t tell you how much information I get from your talks and the knowledge I have now compared to a year ago is crazy so I thank you two for that. I also love soundtracks to film and to hear the composers talk about there work is a joy.

Keep up the great work and Ill Be going back to listen to some again when waiting for a new cast to come out
